Medical Drones: What is the Impact of Drones in the Rwanda Medical Sector?

Outside the capital Kigali,medical infrastructure is still poor; and above all, the country faces a daunting challenge. In hospitals and local health centers, it remains difficult to preserve and acquire blood for medical use. These medical constraints pose a great danger for people in the most remote corners of the country. In this context, the American company Zipline initiated a system of delivery drones that transport blood to these remote areas. Our field research focused on the assesing the impact of this new technology in the Rwanda medical sector.
